Dogwood Season Is Knoxville’s Way of Welcoming Spring
There’s a moment every year when Knoxville quietly turns the page into spring. The mornings get a little brighter, the air softens, and suddenly you notice it everywhere — dogwoods starting to bloom, neighbors out walking, and the city feeling like it’s stretching awake after winter.
That’s why I love what Dogwood Arts represents. Yes, it highlights the natural beauty of East Tennessee — but even more than that, it has a way of bringing our city together. People from all corners of Knoxville get involved, show up, and celebrate what makes this place special.
A big part of that is the Dogwood Trails & Gardens, which are open April 1–30 each year. It’s such a simple idea: pick a day, take a drive (or bike ride), follow the pink lines, and enjoy the neighborhoods in bloom. The trails span 90+ milesacross 13 neighborhoods, and it’s one of the easiest ways to fall in love with Knoxville all over again.
Then there’s the signature weekend — the Dogwood Arts Festival at World’s Fair Park, happening April 24–26, 2026. It’s one of those events that feels like a true community gathering: art, music, food, families, and friends all sharing the same green space downtown.
On a personal note, I’m especially excited this year because I get to be the Fountain City Dogwood Trail Sponsor and the Fountain City Dogwood Trail Committee Chairperson. It’s a meaningful way for me to support something that helps Knoxville celebrate spring together.
If you’ve never done Dogwood season before, here’s my simple encouragement: make it a tradition. Choose one afternoon to drive a trail. Pick one event to attend. Invite a friend or bring the kids. It’s a small thing, but it’s one of those shared experiences that quietly reminds you: community is built in moments like this.
